Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other term entered in a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company that provides that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Gaines County Court Docket does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an email, the message is retained as needed to prepare and deliver a response. It is kept within the operating team and is not disclosed outside the organization unless sharing is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical information may be collected when a page loads, including:
- The internet protocol address assigned to the device
- The browser type and browser version
- The operating system and type of device
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when that information is available
- The date and time associated with each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure how people use the website, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers may combine this activity into general traffic reports. A visitor may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some website features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintain the website and improve its loading performance
- Route submitted searches to the appropriate partner service
- Measure which resources are useful and which need improvement
- Diagnose and correct security or technical problems
- Present advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Gaines County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of dockets or personal case-record information. It publishes general directions for finding Gaines County court dockets and requesting records from Terri Berry, Gaines County Clerk, Susan Murphree, Gaines County District Clerk, the courts that hold the original files, and re:SearchTX. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate search tools displayed on the website. Information submitted through one of those tools is handled under that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider determines its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices, which Gaines County Court Docket does not control. Visitors should read the applicable provider policy before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Gaines County Clerk, Gaines County District Clerk, Texas courts, re:SearchTX, legal-aid resources, or third-party search services. Following a link leaves this website, and the destination's privacy terms then apply. Visitors should review those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use technology that follows activity across websites to select targeted advertising. That processing occurs through the provider's systems, not the systems operated by Gaines County Court Docket.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure website use and performance
- Search partners that process queries submitted to their tools
- Advertising networks that serve advertisements on the website
- Government bodies or law-enforcement agencies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information collected through the website. No system connected to the internet can be guaranteed completely secure. Although steps are taken to reduce risk, Gaines County Court Docket cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its prompt deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning personal information depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the request. The Texas Public Information Act concerns access to government information and does not turn this privately operated website into a government custodian. Access to Texas judiciary records is governed by court rules and other applicable law, including Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 where that rule applies. Those public-record frameworks are distinct from rights concerning visitor data held by a private website. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about that visitor
- Ask for inaccurate personal information to be corrected
- Request deletion of personal information
- Object to or opt out of certain forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised as practices, services, or legal obligations change. An updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Visitors may return to this page to review the current terms governing the handling of their information.
